Marc B Moffitt
Marc grew up in Greensboro N.C. in a musical family. His parents sang professionally all their lives and Marc and brother Joel grew up in that musical environment.
Marc was an avid music listener from a young age of 8 and enjoyed a wide variety of genres from Top 40 to Rock, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Big Band and Classical. This has influenced his musicianship throughout the years creating a well-rounded performer and teacher.
Marc got his first drum set at the age of 12 and briefly started introductory lessons on piano at age 6. Although his primary passion was overwhelmingly for the drums throughout his life, he later rekindled his love for piano at age 15.
He and his older brother, Joel an accomplished guitarist, played actively together from 6th-10th grades in a number of garage band scenarios. Later Marc played drums in Jazz Band in high school his Junior and Senior years.
Right after high school, Marc toured professionally full time for 9 years as drummer with "The Bridge" a contemporary Christian band that traveled 40 states, Toronto and parts of Mexico playing over 300 times a year (including tour bus and 4 recorded albums).
After coming off the road, Marc earned an Associates Arts Degree in Bible at Liberty Christian College in Pensacola, Florida. While attending there, he began his drum teaching career both on campus and at Dollarhide Music Store there in Pensacola.
Through the years Marc has always been actively involved with Contemporary Praise & Worship teams, playing drums and piano/keyboard. This led to a staff leadership position for several years as Music/Worship Team Director at a local church in High Point, NC as well as other unique opportunities to help facilitate several local churches to transition from more traditional music to contemporary worship, building worship teams and youth bands from the ground up.
Even off the road Marc has played with such local bands as progressive-punk rock band “2nd Eve”, Christian rock band and recording artist, “5 Man Jesus Band”, recording artist, “Visions of Venus” and others.
Today Marc is the drummer and background vocalist for local Top 40 band, “Second Glance”.
Marc has been an active member/supporter of HNMA since 2009 and today continues his support as Staff Instructor teaching Drums with a unique approach, emphasizing Passion in Playing (with "heart and soul") while also teaching the Fundamentals of music, Various playing styles, Hand-foot coordination and Basic Rudimental studies.
Marc's method for teaching Piano/Keyboards is a quick and easy, very effective way to start playing 'immediately'. With his unique, non-traditional method of learning, based primarily on the diatonic scale, the student is instantly engaged no matter the degree of capability (from beginner to expert) learning how to read chord charts, understand the Nashville Number System, playing by ear, and learning to create and write music.
